Parent/Child

Dedication

Raising kids to know Jesus is a big deal and we’re here to help. Parent/Child Dedication is a chance for you to publicly commit to guiding your child in faith and to lean on your church community along the way.

Dedicate Your Child

Parenting is amazing… and let’s be real, it’s also hard. That’s why we want to walk with you as you raise your kids to know and follow Jesus. Parent/Child Dedication is a special moment where you commit to that journey and we get to cheer you on and support you as you go.

To get started, just sign up for one of our short parent classes at a date that works for you.

The Dedication Process

Thinking about dedicating your child? Here’s what to expect:

Attend a Class – It’s a 30-minute session happening a few weeks before the dedication. You’ll meet some of our team, hear what dedication is all about, and get everything you need to know for the big day.

Register for a Weekend Service Time – After the class, we’ll send you a link to sign up for the service time you desire to be a part of.

What We Ask of Parents

Here’s what it means to dedicate your child at Crossroads:

  • You’re following Jesus and growing in your faith (even if one parent isn’t there yet, and that’s okay).
  • You attend Crossroads regularly and align with our beliefs and values.
  • You’re committed to helping your child grow up in their faith and showing them what Christ-like love looks like.

Invite Your People!

Parent/Child Dedication is a meaningful moment, so invite your friends and family to be part of it! Whether they go to church or not, most people love celebrating big steps like this. After the service, stick around for the Family Reception where you can enjoy some snacks and snap some pics in front of our Crossroads Family Photo op.

FAQs

You’ll start by taking a one-time 30 minute class that helps you understand the purpose behind Parent/Child Dedication at Crossroads.

Then, you’ll choose which Parent/Child Dedication Sunday for your dedication. During the dedication, parents and kids will be recognized on stage as you commit to raising your child in faith to follow Jesus. Our pastors will lead a brief moment of prayer and encouragement over the families.
Parent/Child Dedication is about you as a parent (or parents) dedicating yourselves to raising your children to follow Jesus. It’s also about recognizing your child as a gift from God and committing to raise them in a way that reflects His love (see Deuteronomy 6:5–9 for a great picture of what that looks like).
No. We believe baptism is a personal decision made by someone who understands and chooses to follow Jesus. So, instead of baptizing babies, we dedicate them, asking God’s blessing over them and their parents as they commit to raising them to know Him.

Dedication doesn’t save a child; salvation comes later, when they choose Jesus for themselves. But this step is a powerful way to set that foundation.
No official membership required! We just ask that Crossroads is your church home and that you’re aligned with our beliefs, so we’re all moving in the same direction together.
While most kids are dedicated as infants, whether your child is just a few days old or 5 years old, we want to partner with you to help raise them in a Christ-centered home.
Absolutely. We love and support single parents and are honored to stand with you as you raise your child in faith. If you share parenting responsibilities, we recommend having a conversation with your co-parent. While it is ideal to have both parents present for such a memorable day, it’s not a requirement for both to be there.
While we don’t officially assign "godparents" at Crossroads, you're welcome to invite family or friends as spiritual supporters in your child's life. We love seeing your village show up!
Whatever makes you feel comfortable! Just keep in mind that you’ll be on stage (at a higher line of sight) so dress with that in mind, especially when it comes to clothing length for ladies.
At Crossroads, we follow Jesus’ example of loving others unconditionally and living out God’s design for marriage and family as found in Scripture (Genesis 2:18–24, Matthew 19:4–6, Ephesians 5:25–33).

We hold to a biblical view of sexuality and marriage.

We ask couples who are living together, but not yet married, to take intentional steps toward honoring God’s design for relationships before participating in a family dedication service.

We want every part of this moment, especially your commitment as a family, to reflect a desire to follow God’s best for your life and your child’s.

We believe every family matters to God, and we’re here to support yours.
