WHO NEEDS HOPE?

Are You Looking for HOPE?

If you’ve ever gone through a time of feeling hopeless then you know just how absolutely overwhelming… even devastating, it can be. And if you don’t have faith in a loving Heavenly Father to turn to for reassurance then you have nothing to hang on to and that can feel terrifying. Because ultimately, without God there’s no way to make sense of this world. It’s broken and getting worse all the time.
No matter how good our own lives may be it is often times scary to see the wreckage around us. Closing our eyes and hearts to the pain in the lives of other people may help us feel safe for a while, but eventually something heartbreaking will break through our carefully constructed barriers. Self-protection can only do so much. At some point, disappointment and despair seep through the chinks in our armor to steal our hope. And if we don’t have hope, how can we go on?
The answer is simple. We can’t. At least we can’t with any degree of peace in our hearts. We weren’t meant to.
But there is good news! We haven’t been left to struggle alone. And we don’t have to figure it all out in a vain attempt to make our days here on Earth seem meaningful. Our lives have meaning and purpose because they are part of a vast plan that is both bigger than us, and yet, includes us.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

The answer is not a religion, or a philosophy, or a program. It’s not in what we do, or who we are, or even what we accumulate or accomplish over our lifetime. The answer is God. Someone who loves us and who desires us to know Him. And His name is Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

The Good News is that Jesus is real. He’s not just a Bible lesson we pull out for children in Sunday School to encourage them to be good. He’s also not just the main character in a cherished old holiday story that we haul out and dust off for Christmas. You can actually know Him and love Him with all your heart.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13

We all need hope. Do you know where to turn when you’ve run out? God says that He will fill us with joy and peace when we believe in His son, Jesus. He makes it possible for us to not only to have hope, but to have it abundantly.

Basics of the Gospel

1. All have sinned and sin leads to death.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”  Romans 3:23  (NLT)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23  (NLT)
2 – God loves us and sent his Son Jesus to die for us.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16  (NLT)
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”  Romans 5:8  (NLT)
3 – Jesus rose from the dead and is alive.
“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9  (NLT)
4.- It is by grace through faith that we are saved.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”  Ephesians 2:8-9  (NLT)
ABC’s of the gospel
A – Admit you have sinned.
B – Believe in Jesus
C – Commit to follow Christ.

How to Share HOPE with Others

Telling Your Story is one of the best ways to Share Hope with others!
How to share the gospel
1. What was your life like before you met Christ?
2.  How did you realize your need for Christ?
3. How did you put your faith in Christ?
4.  How have things changed in your life?
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  Acts 1:8  (NLT)How to Write Your Story

How to Write Your Story

Your salvation story is simply your story about how you came to know Jesus. Your story is powerful because it is yours!
Write about your life before trusting Christ. Your story may begin with a need in your life. It could be lack of purpose, the search for the meaning of life, a loss, emptiness, fear, or an experience that became a wake-up call. Even if you became a Christ-follower at a young age, there was still something there that revealed your need for Christ.
Explain how you received Jesus Christ. The second part of your story tells how you came to experience salvation found in Jesus Christ. How did this occur? When and where were you? Write down the circumstances and personal feelings of this time.
Tell about the difference in your life after receiving Christ. The last part of your story communicates how your life is now different since receiving Christ. How has he changed your life? What would your life be without Him? How did He fulfill the need or change the situation in the first part of your story? What other needs has He met?
